Counseling

The mission of the BCMS counseling department is to provide counseling to every student in making educational, occupational, and life plans that prepare all to become compassionate and responsible decision-makers for their personal success as well as the community at large. The counseling program works towards each student across all grades having equal access to services by offering personal development classes, small-group sessions, and emphasizing the importance community partnerships so that the students can achieve their highest potential in a holistic environment.

Eagle County School District is committed to providing age and grade appropriate counseling services at all of our schools. In addition to general school day programs and services, our counselors are available to both students and parents by appointment.

Personal Development

Personal Development emphasizes strengthening self-esteem, recognizing and resisting negative peer pressure, developing coping skills for dealing with changes within one’s self, others, and their environment. Effective problem-solving and decision making skills will be taught throughout all parts of curriculum in order to make safe and healthy choices in life.

  • Bright Future Foundation's EmpowerMENt/EmpowHER Program is a curriculum that teaches leadership, conflict resolution, and anti-bullying concepts to all grade levels. The facilitators continue to connect with the students on a personal level as well as modify the program to meet each student's needs as they become more familiar with Berry Creek Middle School climate and culture.
  • Fight Like a Girl by Kym Rock help support the Personal Development classes across all grade levels by bringing in character development, self-defense, and social-emotional learning concepts into the classroom.
