Mr. Clark: I In Science class we are going to be exploring the subject of Genetics. We are learning about how DNA, genes, and traits are all related to each other and how they are passed down from parents to children. We will be using Punnett Squares, completing readings, and constructing models to help deepen our understanding of this topic. There will also be activities that range from the historical beginnings of this topic through current day, focusing on research into mutations in DNA. This unit will take the majority of the quarter, towards the end we will begin learning about the evolution of life on planet Earth. |

Social Studies: 3rd Quarter
Ms. Yoce:
In 7th Grade Dual Language Social Studies, students dive deeply into the study of ancient civilizations such as Egypt and Rome. Through bilingual instruction, students explore how these civilizations were structured, how their societies functioned, and how monumental structures were designed and built. Learning goes beyond textbooks as students engage in hands-on, kinesthetic experiences. One key project includes constructing a pyramid model, allowing students to interact with historical concepts through creation, collaboration, and problem-solving. This approach strengthens historical understanding while supporting language development and active learning.

In 7th Grade Spanish, students strengthen their language proficiency through an integrated study of grammar, culture, literature, and creative expression. Students develop accuracy and fluency by learning to correctly use conjunctions and prepositions in Spanish. In addition to that, students also develop spelling accuracy by studying Spanish orthographic rules, with a focus on the correct use of b and v in written Spanish.
Cultural learning is embedded through research on South American social relationships and traditions, including an exploration of the cumbia music genre. Literary analysis is emphasized as students examine characters, themes, and perspectives in a novel. To apply their learning authentically, students complete a culminating project in which they write and perform a script based on real-life situations, fostering communication skills, collaboration, and cultural awareness.
